Sexual Dysfunction In Men

There are various medications that can help you treat impotence. Viagra is almost synonymous with impotence and it is the first thing that comes to your mind whenever you think of erectile dysfunction. There are other drugs as well such as Cialis and Levitra but what is common among all such medications is that they all have side effects.

Impotence or erectile dysfunction is a fairly common male sexual disorder. There are millions of men the world over that suffer with impotence.

Though it is more common among older men, it can also affect men who are in their early twenties.

Impotence injections are also used to treat erectile dysfunction in men. Use of such shots began in the 1990's and since then 95% of men who have used such injections have reported to successfully attaining and maintaining erections. These injections use a drug called papavarine and the main use of this drug is to dilate the blood vessels during surgery.

It can have a devastating effect psychologically and this is likely to worsen the situation. I can say this, because I myself have been through it at a very young age of 21 and know how depressing it can be.

It works well to dilate blood vessels that supply blood to the penis and increases blood flow to the erectile tissue. This ensures rock hard erections. These injections are administered by a certified doctor and are virtually painless. A very fine needle is used in such shots. It takes about 10-15 minutes for this medicine to show effects.

To have a better understanding of what is impotence, it is important for you to know how an erection occurs. When you get sexually excited, your brain instructs the body to increase blood flow to the penis. In the walls of the blood vessels that supply blood to the penis, nitric oxide is secreted. This nitric oxides helps penis muscle relax which allows blood vessels to dilate. This results in an increased blood flow to the erectile tissue under high pressure so that blood entering the penis is trapped inside and the vein that allows blood from the penis is compressed, blocking outflow of blood. The whole process results in a rock hard erection.

Most experts advice that you should not have more than 3 shots a week. Moreover, men who suffer with diseases such as leukemia, sickle cell anemia and multiple myeloma, or cancer of the bone marrow should avoid using these injections.

Another side effect of such injections is prolonged erections that can last upto 48 hours. This condition is called Priapism and can be painful as well as highly embarrassing.
